Canadian Consulate Donates Computers 061106 -

The Canadian Consulate of Hong Kong graciously donated the following:

  • 97 IBM IntelliStation EPro Pentium III 800Hz or 1000Hz computers
  • 2 IBM Personal Computer 300PL computers
  • 117 CRT Monitors (IBM, Phillips and Dell)
  • 2 Lexmark laser printers (Optra Rt+ and Optra S1855)
  • 4 large boxes of keyboards and accessories
  • 10 monitor filters

These computers will be donated to the following provinces in the next two weeks:

  • Bohol
  • Capiz
  • Ifugao
  • Banguet
  • Cebu
  • Mountain Province
  • Surigao
  • Sorsogon
  • Iloilo
  • Cagayan
  • La Union

From Hong Kong with Love Music CD Demo 050813 - Thelma spent 5 days from 7-10PM on July 26 - August 3 to record 9 songs for the upcoming album. Samples of six songs, written by Thelma, arranged and sung (voice guides) by the arrangers, may be listened to by clicking on the Soundbox icon on the left.

The CD will be launched before the end of the year.

Art Supplies, 031226 - 8 sets of art supplies consisting of crayons, scissors, color pencils, Play-dough cutter, and puzzles were donated to 8 Day Care centers, costing P3,360.

Basic Computer Training, 040905 - Basic computer training were held over 8 Sunday's for 8 Hong Kong volunteers.

CIS and HKIS Donates Computers 061030 -

For the second year, the Foundation received technology consisting of 15 sets of computers, 2 printers and an LCD mega show projector from the Chinese International School.  Thanks to Mr. Sunil Talwar for arranging the donation.

The donations will be forwarded to several schools in the province of Ifugao of the Cordilleras namely Lagawe Central School, Laweg National Schools, and Ifugao State College of Agriculture and Forestry; and Acevedo Elementary School, Majanlud Elementary School, Adlawan Elementary School, and Tabuc, Elementary School all in the city of Roxas in the Visayas region.

In addition, the Hong Kong International School (HKIS) has also donated 10 computers and 2 printers.  These computers will be forwarded to the Tubog Ubay Elementary School, Can-Olin Elementary School and Albur Central Elementary School and Buena Suerte Central Elementary, all in the city of Bohol and Itogon in Benguet province.  Thanks to Mr. Joseph Kung for arranging the donation for HKIS.

Six volunteers from the Hagiyo Welfare and 3 volunteers from Capiz Achievers packaged all the said donations.

 



Computer Donation, 050317 - The Chinese International School of Hong Kong donated 12 computers. 

CUF Donates to Vargas College, 041212 - The Foundation donated 12 Dell servers, 3 heat exchangers, and 110 computer related books valued at over HK$100,000 (and over HK$600,000 when first purchased by the donor) to Vargas College, Calug, Abulug, Cagayan.  It is the Foundation's hope that the equipment and materials will benefit the students and the community with the establishment of its technology data center.

Website's New Look, 041201 - The Foundation's website is now professionally hosted by an ISP in the USA.  The Foundation is grateful to Mr.Francis Thong for his genorosity in donating the site and providing his time to build and manage the Foundation website.


Computer Donation, 040920 - Hong Kong International School donates computer equipment valued at HK$250,000

Computer Donation, 041004 - Hong Kong International School donates computer equipment and educational material valued at HK$50,000.

Computer Donation, 050131 - A  17" and 19" monitor was donated by two HKIS parents.

Bylaws Approved and Signed, 041212 - The Foundation's Bylaws is approved and signed by the first five Trustees of the Foundation.


Technology Donation Update 2004 - Between July 2003 and August 2004, the Foundation donated 35 computers, 18 servers, 3 heat exchangers, 50+ reference books, printers, and many accessories valued at P4,000,000  to 16 schools and 3 organizations.

  • 130 pieces software
  • 2 overhead projectors
  • 3 scanners
  • 5 printers

Acquaintance Gathering, 040404 - An acquaintance gathering was held at Repulse Bay, Hong Kong over BBQ.  Eight potential volunteers attended the gathering.

Album Launching for Fund Raising 060228 - The Foundation thanks all sponsors, guests and volunteers for supporting and helping to make this event extraordinarily successful.


HKIS Donates Books 060429 - The HKIS Parent Faculty Organization (PFO) donates 20 boxes of books, toys and sandals to the Foundation.  

Sony PSP Lucky Draw Result, 0508078 - Thank you very much for supporting the scholarship program by purchasing the lucky draw tickets. 288 of the 400 tickets were sold, raising HK$5,760.00.

Lorna Villanueva, Managing Editor of HK News, drew one ticket from the box of tickets at 2:00 PM at the D'Aguilar Street Delifrance.

From Hong Kong With Love Launch 060312 - The From Hong With Love launched successfully at the Hong Kong Chater Garden.  From about noon to 7PM, an average of 600 people were in attendance to support the launch.  Please click on the Gallery link to view more photos. 

      



HKIS PFO Donates 4,000 books 080419 -

The HKIS's Parent Faculty Organization donated over 4,000 books at the end of its World's Fair celebration.  Once again, thank you HKIS's PFO.

Thelma Sings at Bradbury School of Hong Kong, 051106 - Thelma sang at the Bai Sa Mindanao (Princess of Mindanao) event at the Bradbury School of Hong Kong.

Phillipine Vice-Consul Noel Novicio acknowledged "Bumangon Ka Pilipino" as "an inspiration to all the Filipinos around the world... to stand up for our country and to do what we can to help."  

HKIS PFO Book Donation, 040424 - The Hong Kong International School's Parent Faculty Organization donated 1,687 books, magazines, and other educational material.

Book Donation 050423 - The Parent Faculty Organization of Hong Kong International School donated the following after their successful World's Fair:

  • 3,486 books
  • 165 videos
  • 138 CDs
  • 49 music cassettes

  • 15 clothing
  • 72 CD racks

All books will be placed at the Ballesteros Public Library.


CUF approved as non-profit organization in HK 050704 - CUF is officially recognized as a non-profit organization by the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department. CUF can now organize public fund raising activities.

Sony PSP Raffle Draw, 050624 - A raffle draw is currently on-going to raise funds towards scholarship of 19 pre-school children. At HK$20 and only 400 tickets sold, the chances of winning the Sony PSP Value Pack valued at HK$2,000 is very high. Within one week of sale, over 100 tickets have been sold.

The sale ends on July 31, 2005 and the draw will take place on August 7, 2005 by Lorna C. Villanueva, Publisher.

Acquaintance Party 061217 - Six partner organizations gathered on Sunday, December 17, at the Repulse Bay beach to get acquainted with other and to learn more about the Foundation's projects. Ms. Jan Strootman, Project Manager of the Foundation, introduced the newly formed Reading Corner program and how the program will increase literacy in the Phillipines.

The music CD "From Hong Kong with Love" may now be purchased through the Foundation volunteers.

Bylaws Draft, 041122 - The first draft of the Foundation's Bylaws is completed and being reviewed by Trustees and members.


Frank Thong Resigns on 5th Anniversary of CUF 080722 -

After 5 years leading the Foundation, Frank's July 4th resignation was accepted on the Foundation's 5th anniversary, July 22, 2008.

Jan and Denny Strootman has taken over all current and future Foundation projects.



Lexmark Donates 218 Printers, 061219 -

Lexmark International donated 218 new and less than one-year-new printers, valued at US$39,721.79 to the Foundation. 169 printers will be distributed to many schools in the Philippines and 49 printers will be distributed to various Hong Kong based community and charitable organizations that provide services to the Filipino community.

Volunteer Recognition Award, 040329 - Nineteen Kids Fair 2003 volunteers were awarded a Certificate of Recognition by Ms. Antonina Beclon at the Ballesteros Sports Complex, Ballesteros.


Thelma Sings at OFW Salusalo, 050730 - Thelma was invited to sing "Problema Mo Ay Kalimutan" at the 4th OFW Salusalo (www.ofw-salusalo.net) at Gerzon Plaza in Metro Manila. July and Perry Cabansag, sons of CUF volunteer Susie Cabansag, sang the song "Super Tatay," also from the upcoming album "From Hong Kong With Love."

GILAS 050507 - CUF chairperson Thelma and board member Frank attended the GILAS (Gearing Up Internet Literacy and Access for Students) kick-off meeting at the China Club, Hong Kong.  We had the privilege of meeting:

CUF's technology program is a microcosm of what GILAS intends to achieve nationwide and supports GILAS wholeheartedly.

Thelma Sings at Chater Garden, 051023 - AFreight Forwarders invited Thelma to sing at their 20th Anniversary at Chater Garden in Hong Kong.  "Bumangon Ka Pilipino" and "Problema Mo Ay Kalimutan" were well received by over 500 people at the open air concert.  50 demo CD's of the upcoming album "From Hong Kong With Love" were given out to the crowd.

CUF Meets with Sure-Express 050827 - CUF members meet with Sure-Express President Henry L. Tsai to discuss future donations from Sure-Express.


Scholarships Awarded, 040701 - 18 kindergarten children received 4-months' tuition scholarship, including the school registration, nutrition, uniform, shoes, universal week and school supplies at P34,560.

Music CD/VCD, 050704 - Founder Thelma Unite will travel to Manila in two weeks to record original compositions as well as songs written by Gary V. and Erroll Lee. The CD/VCD will be used to raise funds for the foundation.

We are very excited that Mike Jamir of Manila Genesis will be producing the CD/VCD. Mike is Gary V.'s long time friend and producer.


CUF listed with the Consulate of the Philiipines in HK 041219 - The Foundation is listed with the Consulate of the Philippines in Hong Kong as a bonafied association on December 19, 2004.

Maya's Corner, 040915 - "Maya's Corner" Mini-Library Opening at the Myla Ortiz Residence, Ballesteros.  Maya is the first book donor with a personally written book at the age of 6.
